**Bhubaneswar:** The Child Line rescued a 3-month-old child from Janata Nagar of Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar, informed Benudhar Senapati, Child & Welfare Committee official.
Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Benudhar Senapati revealed, “We got information that a woman had sold her 4 children at different times to different persons and asked the Child Line to investigate it. During investigation, they found that one of the children was in Janatanagar and we rescued him with the help of the police as the locals were protesting and posing problems. The child has been sent to Subhadra Mahtab Seva Sadan for care and protection. The Childline will lodge an FIR in this regard, so the police will also investigate and try to find out the other children.”
It is alleged that the woman and her husband are absconding. They originally hail from Udala of Mayurbhanj and allegedly sold their first child 7 yrs back, and then the 3-yr -old twins before selling the last child aged merely 3 months.
“But the real reason behind such an act is questionable. One cannot sell 4 children over poverty. It is yet to be ascertained whether the whole allegation is true or not. This can be stated only after our investigation is over. Moreover, all the kids are not girls, so the real reason can be known only after we get to the accused woman,” added the CWC member.
