**Bhubaneswar**: An Uber driver was attacked and looted by two miscreants posing to be passengers in Khandagiri area here in the capital city on the wee hours of Thursday.
According to DCP Anup Sahoo, “The Uber cab was booked through the app by two miscreants at around 5 am. They had asked the driver to come near Kalinga Studio but then they diverted him to Tapoban area. When the driver reached the spot, he was assaulted by both the miscreants who allegedly looted him and took away the car. A case has been filed in Khandagiri PS. We have put the phone number on surveillance which had booked the cab so that we can nab the culprits.”
The driver identified as Ganesh Mahakud has been injured grievously and is undergoing treatment at the private hospital. His condition is stated to be stable now.
According to him, “When I reached the destination, I called them but received no answer. I was waiting when they attacked me suddenly. I was taken aback and tried to put up the fight. But they managed to loot me and took away my car also.”
He alleged that the duo snatched his mobile phone and Rs 12,000 cash before fleeing the spot in the car.
