Ganjam: Three workers sustained serious injuries following a blast in the steam pipe bell of Aditya Birla Grasim Industry.
The three critically injured workers have been identified as Shankar Roul (32), S. Baideshar (25), K. Benupani Reddy (35) while another worker Abhishek Pal also sustained injuries.
Among the injured, one is stated to be an engineer while the rest three are contractual labourers.
All injured were first rushed to the Chatrapur hospital and later they were referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur.
It was also reported that those extremely critical were shifted to Bhubaneswar.
The mishap took place at around 9.30 am today.
Reports also said that the steam pipe bell somehow came in contact with electricity following which the mishap happened.
Tension prevailed in the factory campus as the irate contractual workers resorted to an agitation demanding compensation and protesting the alleged delay in ambulance.
Ganjam PS IIC Dilip Kumar Sahu and Chatrapur SDPO Goutam Kisan rushed to the spot take stock of the situation and held discussion with the company authorities.
