Bhadrak: Dairy farmers of Bhadrak district spilled hundreds of litres of milk after their produce was rejected by the chilling plant of Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (OMFED) at Basudevpur on Friday night.
Reportedly, the dairy farmers had visited the chilling plant at 11.30 PM yesterday as usual to sell the milk. However, the OMFED officials rejected the milk alleging it has been adulterated.
Irate over it, around 200 milk farmers spilled all the produce on the road in front of the chilling plant in protest. They also locked the OMFED gate and staged dharna on the spot.
Similar protest had been done by dairy farmers in Bargarh district in May 2016 when the OMFED chilling plant in Bargarh rejected their produce alleging the milk tested positive in the adulteration test.
Following it, the farmers had spilled around 26,000 litres of milk worth Rs 6.76 lakh on the road at Gandhi Chowk in Bargarh town.
