Bhubaneswar: Legislature party meeting of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), after it once again bagged a thumping majority in Odisha, is going to be held on the afternoon of May 26 (Sunday).
Party spokesperson Sasmit Patra informed that the newly elected MPs of BJD would meet party supremo Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Niwas on Sunday morning and the legislature party meeting will be held in the afternoon at BJD headquarters.
Reportedly, the MPs will meet Patnaik at around 11 AM and the legislature party meeting will be held at 1 PM.
However, Patra asserted that the party is yet to decide on the oath taking ceremony date. As it is the first legislature party meeting of the fifth term, the newly elected MLAs will hold discussions as per schedule, he added.
Notably, BJD has 112 assembly seats in its kitty out of the total 146 seats where polls were held while by-poll to the Patkura assembly seat (under Kendrapada Parliamentary Constituency) has been deferred by two months in the wake of the severe cyclonic storm FANI that wreaked havoc on Odisha on May 3. Earlier, this by-poll had been slated on May 19 due to the sad demise of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla.
