Bhubaneswar: Odisha won the first exhibition hockey match against New South Wales here at Kalinga Stadium today. Odisha XI scored five goals clinching victory while the guests had to settle with a single goal.

Today's match was the inaugural tie between the two-match series between Odisha and NSW. The second match will be held at Rourkela on November 4 (Sunday).

Odisha government has invited the players of New South Wales Institutes of Sport (NSWIS) for the exhibition matches as a part of the build up to Men's Hockey World Cup.
