Bhubaneswar: PK Mishra from Odisha, the Additional Principal Secretary to PM Narendra Modi, was voted as the most powerful bureaucrat in the country according to Bureaucracy Today magazine.
Surprisingly, Mishra topped the list of powerful bureaucrats putting Modi’s Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha second, third and fourth places respectively.
The Odisha-born bureaucrat, served as the Principal Secretary to Modi when latter was Gujarat CM, has got highest 83.7 per cent votes in an online survey conducted by the monthly magazine.
After his retirement in 2008, PK was offered important government job in Gujarat and finally brought to PMO to assist Modi in all crucial and confidential decisions.
Top sources said that all important files and key postings in the union government are undertaken by PK Mishra. In fact, in matters related to the powerful Cabinet Committee on appointments, PK is more decisive than Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Cabinet Secretary.
Known for his integrity and humility, Mishra joined civil services after completing graduation from GM College, Sambalpur and Post Graduation at Delhi University. He had also worked for Rengali Dam Project for a brief period in Odisha.
Lawyers, doctors, research scholars, students appearing civil services exam and some corporate professionals were participated in the online poll who voted maximum in favour of Mishra.
