Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of Maoists operation in Bolangir and Kandhamal district last week, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed the Maoists to join mainstream and leave violence.
The Odisha CM in his official twitter handle expressed that it is high time for the misguided youths to surrender arms and join the mainstream. He also said that there is no place for violence in democracy.
Union Home Minister Shri @rajnathsingh called me & congratulated @odisha_police on it’s stupendous success in anti-Maoist operations in #Odisha. In democracy there is no place for violence. I appeal to them to drop weapons & join the mainstream.— Naveen Patnaik (@Naveen_Odisha) May 16, 2018
Recently in two separate major police encounters, seven Maoists were killed by the security personnel in the jungles of Kandhamal and Bolangir districts.
Earlier, Naveen Patnaik had said that in districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Bolangir, Nuapada and Rayagada, terrorism is still a challenge that is needed to be pulled out of the State.
