Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated the Haj Pilgrims who will be undertaking the Haj pilgrimage at a special function held at Jayadev Bhawan here.

This year, 731 Haj Pilgrims are going to perform the pilgrimage through State Haj Committee. Out of these, there are 433 male and 298 female pilgrims. In order to look after the welfare of the Haj Pilgrims, four ‘Khadim-Ul-Hujjaj’ are being sent by the Government.

The State Government have been providing all facilities for the Haj Pilgrims which includes, construction of a Haj House at Bhubaneswar, holding Haj workshops in different parts of the State, providing Haj guide books and free Haj travel kits.

Speaking on the occasion, Naveen emphasized that the State Government has been persistently working for the welfare and development of our Muslim community. He informed that the construction of the Haj House in Bhubaneswar which has been a long-standing dream, will be completed soon.

The State Government is providing financial assistance of Rs 6 lakh each, to around 100 minority educational institutions for development of facilities such as Library, additional class rooms and, Laboratory.

The Government is currently constructing 40 hostels with a capacity of 100 students each, in urban centers for children belonging to Minority communities. Further 100 ‘multipurpose community centres’ are being constructed for Minority Communities.

Among others, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister, Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Barabati-Cuttack MLA Debasish Samantray, Kantabanji MLA Haji Md. Ayub Khan, Chairman, Cashew Development Corporation, Muzibullah Khan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department and Executive Officer, State Haj Committee were present during the occasion.
