Low Pressure Triggered Rain Likely To Lash Odisha In 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: Meteorological Department on Tuesday in its weather forecast predicted that Odisha is likely to experience rain and thundershower in the next 24 hours because of low pressure.

According to the Met Centre here, several southern districts of Odisha is likely to have rainfall due to the effect of a well marked low pressure and fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea.

“The low pressure area formed over southwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood is likely to trigger rain or thundershower over several places in Odisha during the next 24 hours,” the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicted on Tuesday.

“Yesterday’s Well Marked low pressure area over Southwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood now lies over West Central and adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours IST of today, the 14th November 2017. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level,” said a Meteorological Centre bulletin.

Rain or thundershower likely to occur at many places over south Odisha and at a few places over north Odisha during next 24 hours, it warned.

It also warned that strong and gusty surface wind speed from easterly direction in south Odisha and northeasterly direction in north Odisha reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha Coast.

Sea condition is likely to be rough to very rough along and off Odisha coast for which fishermen are advised not to venture into sea, the Met Centre bulletin added in its warnings.
