**Bhubaneswar/Angul/Balasore:** On the first day of the National Road Safety Week, five people were killed and many got injured in separate road accidents at different places in Odisha.
The latest incident occurred at Hanspal chowk in the outskirts of the capital city Bhubaneswar when a truck hit a scooter killing one on the spot and injuring the other. The duo was on their way to Khurda.
The deceased have been identified as Somnath Panda and the injured, Prasant Jena. The injured was rushed to Capital hospital, Bhubaneswar.
One more accident was reported from Sanhula Chowk under Thakurgarh police limits where a cement laden truck barged inside a roadside house after losing its balance killing one and injuring another man.
The deceased has been identified as Srikant Behera.The injured was admitted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Another incident occurred near Puruna Bazaar on NH-16 in Bahanaga of Balasore district where a man and his brother-in-law were killed after a truck hit their motorbike in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Sarbaz Ali Khan and Dayar Ali Khan of Mirzapur area near Chandipur in Balasore district. The duo was going from Bhadrak to Balasore when the accident occurred.
Tension prevailed in the area following the mishap disrupting the busy NH-16 for some time. However Khantapada police resumed traffic situation to normalcy.
