Bhubaneswar: In a major fire mishap, around 22 rooms of Roshaghara (kitchen) at Ananta Basudev Temple turned into ashes in the capital city here in the wee hours of Friday.

As per sources, the flames were witnessed by the locals after which they informed the fire officials at around 4 am. Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the inferno.

Since the kitchen rooms were thatched with paddy straw, the fire engulfed the entire complex in few minutes.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the authorities are also yet to assess the amount of damage to the temple property.

Meanwhile, the fire mishap is likely to affect the ‘Mahaprasad’ sale and distribution today.
