Bhubaneswar: Soon after Nuapada police arrested absconding special class contractor Banti Agarwal from Haryana and is getting him to Odisha on transit remand, Odisha Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has taken up the investigation and monitoring of his case.
As per a press note issued on Tuesday by the EOW, it has taken up investigation of four major cases out of 19 cases registered in Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Bargarh districts against Banti Kumar Agarwal, proprietor of M/s Suraj Enterprises and Sabita Devi Agarwal ‘A’ class contractor and proprietor of M/s Suraj Buildtech of Bhawanipatna.
“Remaining 15 cases have been treated as Special Reported cases and the investigation of these cases will be monitored/assited by EOW,” the press note said.
It has also been stated that the accused persons Banti Kumar Agarwal, Rajendra Kumar Agarwal and Sabita Devi Agarwal have been arrested from Haryana and are being brought on transit remand to produce them before JMFC, Khariar and SDJM, Nuapada.
Investigation so far disclosed that the accused persons have deposited fake and forged TDRs purportedly issued by State Bank of India, Bhawanipatna branch towards EMD/ISD/APSD to execute work under PWD, RWSS and RD divisions of Khariar, Nuapada, Kantabanji, Bolangir, Kesinga, Bhawanipatna, Dharamgarh, Bargarh and Nawarangpur. Investigation of the cases is in progress, the EOW press note said.
