Bhubaneswar: In a move to promote e-ticketing, East Coast Railway today launched a ‘UTS on Mobile’, a mobile application.

Passengers can download the application in their phones from Google Play store/Apple/Microsoft store based on the smart phone OS and avail unreserved tickets using railway wallet (R Wallet), an e-payment mode for Railways. There is no service charge for purchasing tickets online.

Talking to mediapersons, Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM) AK Behera said, “Instead of standing in long queues for tickets, passengers can use their smart phones with internet connectivity to purchase unreserved tickets and platform tickets at stations. This new application will save a lot of time, besides being environment friendly, owing to its paperless nature.”

Tickets can be booked from 20 mts. off the station premises and upto 2 kms. The application can also be used for single journey (non-concessional) tickets, platform tickets as well as purchase or renewal of season tickets, by using a smart phone with GPS and internet connectivity.

The ticket is generated in the Mobile App itself and there is no need for the passengers to take print out of the tickets. The option has been given in mobile app to book paper ticket in 15 nominated stations coming under East Coast Railway viz. Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Khurda Road, Palasa, Brahmapur, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Visakhapatnam, Simhachalam, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram, Duvvuda, Sambalpur and Titlagarh.
