Bhubaneswar: Supreme Court-constituted Central Empowered Committee (CEC), has dashed an urgent letter to the Odisha Government to constitute a committee for a fresh joint survey of 82 iron and manganese leases in the State.
The CEC in its letter, addressed to Odisha Steel & Mines Special Secretary, has stated, “In continuation of the discussion held in CEC on 4th October, 2017, you are requested to forward soft copy of all the shape files and data layers containing all information that has been relied upon in respect of DGPS Survey of 82 mining leases that has been completed by Government of Odisha involving officials of Revenue Department, Mining Department and Orissa Space Application Centre to the DG, Forest Survey of India as well as to the CEC. The copies of the same may also be made available to the DG, MoEF, the Indian Bureau of Mines and the Geological Survey of India.”
The urgent letter also mentions, “The observations/comments/views of the FSI, the MoEF, the IBM and the GSI may be obtained on the joint survey conducted by the team of officials from various officials of Government of Odisha. Treat this matter as urgent and the soft copy of the shape files may please be sent to the various agencies referred above forthwith as the limit fixed by the Hon’ble Court is approaching fast.”
