New Delhi: The CBI on Friday arrested an ex-Inspector of Works of the Railways, on charges of fraud. According to the Central Agency, the former Railway Inspector, Alok Ghosh was posted at South Eastern Railway in Bhubaneswar.
He was at large since July, 2008. The CBI had registered a case in this connection in August 1999 and filed the chargesheet in 2002.
Ghosh has been booked under Sections 420, 467, 471 of the IPC and Section 13(2) and 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act. He along with "others" misappropriated steel rods, cement bags and construction materials causing a loss of Rs 27.35 lakh to the Railways (South Eastern Railway).
"The Special Judge, CBI had issued a non-bailable warrant against him as he was untraceable since the chragesheet was filed in this case," a CBI official said. The accused will be produced before the Court of Special Judge (CBI) in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
