Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police Dr RP Sharma has ordered his team to ensure that there should was no laxity in improving law and order situation in the State. During a video conference with district Superintendents of Police and Range IGs and DIGs, he directed senior police officers to spruce up their intelligence network and aim at preventing law and order situations, which are likely to occur.
"Stringent action should be initiated against organised criminals, transport mafia, drug peddlers and illegal firearm traders. The Revenue and other Department officials should be offered all assistance to check the activities of unscrupulous stone quarry operators," Dr Sharma said.
He laid emphasis on an action plan which includes arrest of "wanted criminals" (history-sheeters), execution of Non-Bailable Warrants (NBW) and expediting closure of cases involving anti-socials. The top-cop was keen on preparation of a dossier of criminals across the State and booking them under (preventive) Sections 107 and 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
"The senior police officers should gear up their intelligence channels to analyse situations well in advance and responding proactively. The SPs need to have an effective action plan to intervene into an inadvertent situation immediately," the DGP stated. The Commissioner of Police and Range IG/DIGs should appropriately guide their respective teams and keep a close watch on such situations.
