Bhubaneswar: Felicitating the newly appointed doctors, who have been posted as Assistant Surgeons at different Government health facilities throughout the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today advised them to work with commitment and ensure that not a single person should be deprived of appropriate service.

Expressing his satisfaction over the appointment of such a huge number of doctors at one go, the Chief Minister said, “It is truly a historic step in providing better healthcare services for the people.”

He also advised the doctors to work hard to carry forward various health services programmes so that not a single person is deprived of appropriate service.

As many as 1560 doctors have been appointed in the last two days. It may be noted here that this is the highest number ever to join the Odisha Medical Services in one go.

Health Secretary Dr Pramod Meherda said that the total strength of doctors at Government facilities has gone up to 6329 which is 94 percent of the total sanctioned strength of doctors with this appointment. Interacting with the Chief Minister, some doctors thanked him for the various attractive provisions for the doctors like the new restructured medical service cadre and the assured promotions for them.

Odisha Development Commissioner Asit Tripathy and Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
