Keonjhar: Despite having won the 2014 general elections as an Independent MLA of Champua Assembly segment even amazingly defeating BJD and other major parties, Sanatan Mahakud has decided not to re-contest this time citing acute ill health condition.

Taking to media, Sanatan Mahakud revealed, “The people of Champua assembly constituency have never debarred me from contesting this time. Till now they were all sure of my contesting this time too and serve the general public here. But my health is extremely unwell.”

He added, “I have undergone spinal surgery. I was thinking that there would be any improvement, but there is no such sign of improvement till date. Rather it is aggravating day to day. Hence, I made up my mind not to contest.”

“When I was an MLA, I liked the activities of BJD. I have also asked the ruling party for the development of this mineral rich district. But, I have not joined BJD,” he claimed.

He also stated, “I have demanded for a mega steel plant and unitary university to be set up here in the district and improvement in both road and rail connectivity.”
