Women Worker Dies, 3 Injured In Explosion At OCL Factory In Odisha's Rajgangpur

29 January 2020

Sundergarh: A woman worker died and three others sustained serious burn injuries following an explosion inside Odisha Cement Ltd in Rajgangpur today afternoon.

As per reports, a group of workers were cleaning the Line-3 blast furnace in the plant when the blast occurred. Four workers were seriously injured and shifted to the local hospital, where a women worker succumbed.

The deceased has been identified as Rashmita Kujur. The condition of the three injured workers is critical, hospital sources said.

The incident led to an agitation inside the factory and the workers demanded compensation for the deceased's family and the injured labourers. Apprehending that the situation would escalate further, a platoon of force has been deployed on the plant premises.

"We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and will extend all help to them in this hour of grief. We are investigating the cause of the accident on an immediate basis and are extending all cooperation to the local administration," Dalmia DSP authorities stated.
