Bhubaneswar: Representatives of women self-help groups (SHGs) across Odisha met BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik today and while congratulating him for the victory in recent polls expressed their eagerness to attend his swearing in ceremony.

Mahila Vikas Samabaya Nigam Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra said, leaders and members of block-level and district-level federations from Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Kendrapara and Cuttack met Patnaik and expressed their interest to participate in his swearing in ceremony to which the latter said he will think about it and get back.

However, as he (Naveen Patnaik) has always respected women and their empowerment, he will definitely allow members of women SHGs from all districts to attend his swearing in ceremony, she added.

Mishra further said that BJD in this election has proved that it can send both youngest woman MP (Chandrani Murmu) and elderly woman MP (Pramila Bisoi) from Odisha.

It proves that the State has moved a step forward in empowerment and the BJD supremo has done which could not be achieved by other political parties.  Hope it will set an example in India and other political parties may take similar steps in future, she added.
