Bhubaneswar: Various women activists gathered at the Lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday chanting slogans against former Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha, Taradatt, following the release of his book 'Highlander’s Plainspeak: An Administrative Rede’ at a function here.
An activist Mina Khuntia said, Odisha knows about the nature of Taradutt. "He has come here to earn praises. It is only after learning about him we came here to deliver justice to his wife," she added.
Another activist Nalini Sahu demanded arrest of Taradutt and justice for his wife. "Women across Odisha have gathered on the call of a woman," she added.
"The Governor must have knowledge about him (Taradutt), so how is it that the latter is allowed into meetings," questioned another activist Chhabirani Maharana. She further alleged that the retired IAS officer has only glorified himself in his book.
It is worthwhile to mention that Taradatt's estranged wife Indulata Das had brought allegations of "moral turpitude" against him in 2014 by filing a petition before the State Commission for Women (SCW).
However, the SCW in July 2016 asked Indulata to close the case citing, "In spite of its best efforts, the Commission has found out that no amicable resolution of the issue could be reached between you and your husband."
