Bhubaneswar: Security personnel deployed outside the hurly-burly Naveen Niwas (residence of BJD supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik) today successfully aborted a self-immolation bid by an aggrieved woman from tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district.

As per the woman’s allegation, she has been sexually harassed by Udala Assembly constituency’s BJD candidate Srinath Soren and allegedly awaits justice till date.

The woman all at once appeared before the heavily guarded zone outside Naveen Niwas and started pouring petrol on her body while some security personnel intervened in the nick of the time.

The security personnel immediately took her into their custody and rushed her to Capital Hospital here.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu informed media, “Our security personnel present here rescued her and took to hospital. She is absolutely out of danger. Reason behind the incident is being interrogated.”
