Cuttack: Jumbo menace seems to have gripped the State as a wild elephant trampled a man to death in Haridapashi village under Tigiria area here on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Kalia Behera.

As per reports, Kalia had gone to attend nature’s call when the wild jumbo trampled him and killed him on the spot. The attack was so severe that Kalia’s head had been separated from his body when locals spotted him.

Few days back, a herd of pachyderms had created menace in the same area. Demanding compsation for the kin of deceased, villagers have alleged that forest officials are not taking appropriate steps to keep the elephants away from human habitation.

In fury, residents of the village also manhandled a Range Officer who visited the area to assess the situation after death of the youth.
