Mayurbhanj: A bid to hunt wild boar using hand-made bomb was foiled in an unfortunate manner when the bomb blasted where it was being made. One person died and the other two got critical injuries in this accident.

As per reports, one Das Tudu was making a hand-made bomb at his residence in Jatiashol village under Jharpokharia Police station in Mayurbhaj district. Bhak Soren and Jagar Murmu of same village were assisting him.

Due to some carelessness, the bomb exploded. Hearing the loud noise villagers rushed to help them.

Jagar and Das were rushed in a critical condition to Raghunath Murmu Hospital in Baripada. However, Das passed on the way to the hospital and he was taken back to the village to hide the fact that a bomb was being made in an unauthorized manner.

On receiving information, Jharpokharia IIC Sharat Kumar Mahalik retrieved Das’ body and sent it for autopsy. He also rescued Soren who also has got severe burn injuries and was in hiding in fear of action. The Police also seized several explosive materials.

A case was registered and a probe has been initiated.

Former Honourary Wildlife Warden Bhanumitra Acharya opined that forest ranges under Baripada forest reserve boasts of several wild animals such as sambar, deers, wild boars and other animals. Poachers usually use inhumane methods of mixing poison in food or use of bombs to easily kill the animals, he added.

Acharya said that he has been in touch with Swayam Mallik, Baripada Forest Officer to put an end to hunting in this area.
