Who Failed Lalita? Malkangiri Girl Loses Battle With Nameless Illness

20 May 2020

Bhubaneswar: The plea of 19-year-old Lalita Golori, "I want to live, please help me," may have touched the hearts of many, but it did not help her win the battle with a yet-to-be-identified disease which claimed her life after a span of two years.

Elder daughter of Padlam and Laxmi from Parkanmala village of Khairput block in Malkangiri district, Lalita had contracted an illness due to which she vomitted whatever she ate. Her parents had burned all their savings to take her to various hospitals in the State but all had advised them to take Lalita to better out-of-state hospitals.

OMMCOM NEWS along with many other media outlets had carried her story as an attempt to garner support for her family. Reportedly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also instructed the district administration to take care of her treatment, but none were able to save the youngster.

Her near and dear ones have grieved that though people came to visit Lalita for photo session or provide money, none thought of arranging for her advanced treatment. Even the efforts of the local administration without proper follow up and lack of concern are not enough, they added.
