Weather Update: Rainfall To Lash 19 Districts Odisha For Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with moderate rainfall and hailstorm will lash in certain districts of the State. The information was made public by Regional Meteorological Centre Director HR Biswas.

“In the next 24 hours the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada will experience a thunderstorm with moderate rainfall accompanied by squall going up to 45-55 kmph. Rainfall with hailstorm will be experienced in Balangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Jajpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, and Jagatsinghpur districts,” said Biswas.

He added that thunderstorm with lightning will be experienced in other districts of the State.

“Rainfall activity is expected to reduce by March 22 and will occur only in one or two places in coastal and adjoining districts of Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Rayagada,” said Regional Meteorological Centre chief.

Post 48 hours the rainfall activity is expected to further reduce and will occur at one or two places in coastal districts. Rest the State will remain dry. There will not be any major change in temperature till March 24, post which a slight increase in temperature is expected, informed Biswas.

In the last 24 hours, there was rainfall at one or two places in South Coastal districts of the State with Kashinagar in Gajapati district receiving the highest rainfall of 24.5 cm. Meanwhile, Parlakhemundi in Gajapati had the highest temperature of 37.1 degrees Centigrade.
