Puri/Bhubaneswar: A blanket of dense fog covered the pilgrim town of Puri today and several important places along with the 12th century shrine were enveloped in mist.

The fog also shrouded Konark Sun Temple and the Grand Road of the pilgrim town causing inconvenience for the tourists. Reports stated that the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the fog situation will continue for the next couple of days.

Commuters also suffered as trains were running late and vehicular movement was hit due to poor visibility. A blanket of fog was also noticed in Twin city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar for the second day continuously.

After Makar Sankranti, the temperature was beginning to warm up when this sudden change has taken everyone by surprise.

On Saturday, operation of 5 flights-Air India Bhubaneswar-Delhi, IndiGo flights including Kolkata-Bhubaneswar-Guwahati, Chennai-Bhubaneswar-Bengaluru, Kochi-Bhubaneswar-Kochi and Kolkata-Bhubaneswar- Mumbai had delayed due to intense fog at Bhubaneswar airport.
