Gajapati: When the mission is for common interest as well as serving one’s motherland, one needs to have the noble intent of being a common man. Be it an influential person or a person of high post. To be Good Samaritan, one has to inculcate: “It is good to be important, but it is more important to be good.”
The praiseworthy act of Gajapati Police on Wednesday evening hours not only attracted the public attention, but also aroused an introspective sense of sympathy, compassion, universal brotherhood and duty towards one’s fellow human beings in distress.
The manners of the sensible woman SP of Gajapati, Sara Sharma, have been a quintessential testimony to “Live and Let Others Live” as well as “Don’t ask the nation what it has given to you. Better ask yourself what you have given to your nation.”
The compassionate team of cops led by their lady SP holding ‘thalis’ (begging bowls) were seen moving around the district headquarters town of Paralakhemundi collecting donations for “Rebuild Odisha”.
The banner carried: “Gajapati Police along with the Good Samaritans of Gajapati District contribute to Rebuild Odisha. Let’s make a stronger better Odisha and donate to FANI torn Odisha. Your every pie counts.”
It also appealed, “Donate whatever you can, whenever you can to help the needy at any Police Station of Gajapati District or District Police Office (DPO) on or before 10.05.2019.”
The DPO sources further informed that the donations collected are to be deposited with the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The Lady SP’s act was not limited to collecting public donations.
As the wise sayings go, “First Be and Then Make” and "Example is Better than Precept", the Gajapati District Police personnel have also set an example by already donating their one month’s salary, each one of them, for this noble cause.
