Puri: The burglars came, saw and tried but failed to conquer. Such an interesting incident has come to the fore in the district last night when the thieves tried to loot a bank ATM but it all turned fiasco.

As per the CCTV footage, the targeted ATM is of Odisha Gramya Bank situated near Konark Police Station square and the loot was attempted at around 3:40 am of Wednesday-Thursday intervening night. The miscreants could manage to open the ATM machine, but failed to open its locker and currency chest resulting in a misadventure.

The CCTV footage evinces that two persons entered the ATM at around 3:40 am. They were with a screwdriver. Another person also joined them soon after. The team of troika strived a lot more than 20 minutes to open the chest, but all fell flat. As all their calculation got misfired, the frustrated trio broke the monitor of the ATM before fleeing the spot.

It is queer to note that the ATM is situated barely 500 metres away from Konark Police Station and thus it has raised the hackles of the citizens as Konark is an international tourism spot.

However, the Gramya Bank employees visited the place after being informed and later the branch manager (BM) of the bank lodged an FIR following which the police rushed there and initiated investigation.
