Balasore: Villagers of Jhadeswarpur in Balasore became a roadblock and prevented excise officials from doing their duty as the mob detained and thrashed the team that had gone to conduct raid in the area after getting information about brown sugar trade.

Reportedly, cops rushed to the spot on intimation and rescued the assistant sub-inspector and four officials of excise team’s mobile squad, who had been detained by locals of Jhadeswarpur slum.

The officials had to return after facing physical resistance from the villagers. It is notable to mention here that most of the substances that come under the NDPS act (Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) are peddled from Balasore to other parts of the State.
