Bhubaneswar: Internal bickering in the Bhubaneswar unit of BJP has come to the light yet again. On Friday, the saffron party's Bhubaneswar district president Harekrushna Khuntia was reportedly attacked by a group of miscreants at Ekamra Haat.
Khuntia, accompanied by his supporters rushed to the Capital Hospital for treatment and reported the matter to police. Speaking to the media, Khuntia levelled allegations against former BJP Yuva Morcha leader Debasis Nayak alias Bapi for the attack.
Bapi along with three others were arrested by the Commissionerate of Police in April 2018 in connection with an extortion case.
"I was attacked by heavily built boys, around 8 to 10 in number. They were acting at the behest of Bapi. This is an outcome of political rivalry which has been orchestrated by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi," Khuntia said.
He added, "I am working for the party which is hampering the interests of a group in the local BJP unit. I will file an FIR against Bapi in this matter." On the other hand, repeated attempts to contact Sarangi on this issue were futile. Her mobile number was not reachable.
