Bhubaneswar: The Women & Child Development (W&CD) and Mission Shakti department of the Odisha government was brought under the purview 'Mo Sarkar' from today.
The government will directly speak to beneficiaries of different schemes under this department.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the programme via video conferencing from the Lok Seva Bhawan here.
"Several important welfare programmes for mother and child are being implemented by the W&CD and Mission Shakti department. The most important is the proper delivery of the benefits of these programmes to the beneficiaries," said Patnaik speaking on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the employees of the W&CD and Mission Shakti department have an important role in the success of the nutrition programme for children and in the success of the State government in reducing maternal mortality ratio (MMR) and infant mortality ratio (IMR).
"It is for their sincere efforts, that Mamata programme has become a model programme in the entire country," he pointed out.
The Chief Minister said that in addition to strengthening of Mission Shakti programme in Odisha, empowerment of women has become an example in itself.
"These good works should continue in future and under no circumstances you should allow or encourage corruption," he advised the field workers of the department.
"Satisfaction of beneficiaries is the biggest success of a programme. Providing excellent service to the people is the prime objective of 'Mo Sarkar' programme. Efforts are on to provide better service to the people based on their feedback. Good work will get appreciation and action will be taken for negligence," Patnaik clarified.
Speaking on the occasion W&CD and Mission Shakti Minister, Tukuni Sahu threw light on the salient features of the Mo Sarkar programme.
Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy who also spoke on the occasion said that Mo Sarkar programme is a unique initiative in the entire country. He advised Collectors to lay special attention towards its successful implementation.
Secretary 5T Initiative VK Pandian explained in detail about the Mo Sarkar programme and its various aspects to the field level employees of the W&CD and Mission Shakti department.
He asked Collectors to strictly implement the directive for the involvement of only women Self Help Groups (SHGs) for supplying 'chhatua' to Anganwadi Kendras.
The 5T Initiative Secretary also warned against harassment of beneficiaries for providing Mission Shakti's Revolving Fund, Infrastructure Fund etc; granting of Inspection Report and Grant-in-Aid to organizations engaged in taking care of children. He informed that these will now come under the purview of Mo Sarkar programme.
