Cuttack: District Election Officer-cum-Cuttack Collector Aravind Agrawal conducted a training programme of the counting personnel to gear them up for May 23, when the VVPAT machines will reveal fate of all the contestants who had hopped on the election bandwagon in the parliamentary constituency.

The counting personnel were briefed on the guidelines and procedures to be followed while counting of votes, which will be held at three locations - Banki Autonomous College in Banki, Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering (BOSE) in Cuttack and Gopabandhu Science College in Athgarh, said Agrawal.

As Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) has been introduced for the first time, the counting will be done at five polling booths per assembly constituency as per the direction of the Supreme Court, he added.

Further arrangements including audit of the machines after counting and seating arrangements at the counting hall are also being done as per the ECI guidelines, said Agrawal while informing that the counting hall will be air-conditioned.
