Veteran Actor Ramachandra Pratihari Passes Away

Puri: Veteran theatre and Ollywood artist Ramachandra Pratihari, who had been bedridden for the past few months, breathed his last today at his residence in Puri.

Prathihari (87) had started his acting career from the Annapurna theatre and later stepped into movies. He had been conferred Jayadev Award for the year 2007 and the Odisha State Film Award for Best Actor for the movie Neela Madhab in 1979.

His recent movie Jai Jagannath, by Odia director Sabyasachi Mohapatra had being released with a record number of 13 languages apart from originals in Odia and Hindi.

Earlier on August 27, 2018, BJP Cultural Cell had awarded a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Pratihari owing to his ill health. Artistes of Annapurna theatre in Puri had also raised an amount of Rs 85,000 through their plays to support Pratihari.
