Bhubaneswar: The city parks, which remain hustle-bustle with couples roaming the whole year through, wore a deserted look as the parks remained closed with a huge lock on the gates. This happened despite Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty’s assurance that parks and public places would remain open today.

Eminent parks like Forest park, Indira Gandhi Park, Science Park and Jayadev Vatika were found locked. An undeclared curfew like situation was witnessed today in the smart city.

On the other hand, Bajrang Dal activists observed peaceful protests across the State against the ‘Western Tradition’. However, Kalinga Sena women's wing reached Esplanade One Mall in full force and asserted that couples should not indulge in indecent behavior. While they had threatened to present couples with branches of Indian stinging nettle (Bicchuati), the outfit had none such thing in their hands. After several minutes of loud threats and chants, police took the protestors into preventive custody to avoid any untoward incident.

Amidst all these, couples stayed off-roads and affection seemed to be lost from public view.
