Bhubaneswar: In addition to routine security arrangements for the winter session of the Odisha Assembly beginning tomorrow, the State Police have planned to have some upgraded arrangements this time, informed Director General of Police (DGP) B K Sharma here today.
The DGP said that as of now there is no specific intelligence input, but the State Police was making arrangements for tackling law and order situation based on intelligence inputs received on such likely situations.
He added that three-tier security arrangements have been made for the Assembly session.
"One is inner cordon which has uniformed police personnel; another is arrangements inside the Assembly which has plainclothes component. Apart from these, we deploy men for collecting information, whenever there is a need anti-terrorist operation special personnel are deployed, the most important and demanding is the deployment of forces for dealing with law and order situation at Lower PMG square for that we have made extensive arrangements," Sharma revealed.
The DGP said that some forces of the 7th Battalion have been given new training to handle law and order.
He added that selected personnel will be deployed for the security of the Assembly and the number of platoons of policemen will be increased as and when needed.
The DGP pointed out that the entire area is already under CCTV surveillance.
