UNWFP Country Director Praises Odisha’s Midday Meal Programme

Bhubaneswar: United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) India Director, Bishow Parajuli on Wednesday called on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhavan.

Parajuli said that the cooperation between Odisha and WFP has been very productive over the past many decades.

"In the last 50 years of partnership we have with the Government of India, I have taken up this responsibility (Country Director) about 6-7 weeks back."

"I came to the State to look at our cooperation and partnership and see that what more can be done. It is important how we further strengthen our cooperation," he added.

The WFP and Odisha are working in food security and addressing malnutrition issues. The WFP is working for improving the distribution system, and fortification of rice, he said.

"We have partnered in Midday Meal programmes and extremely impressed with the balanced diet provided to children in schools," the WFP Director added.
