Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Odisha being adjudged the best in the country for successfully completing 11,70,185 pucca houses in the rural belt under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and also having ironically received the award from the Union Rural Development Minister who has been vocal in his criticism against Odisha Government’s poor show, Odisha Panchayati Raj Minister lampooned him on Wednesday.

Pradeep Maharathy, Minister, Panchayati Raj, Odisha in his reactions said, “Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav during his visits to Odisha has criticised that nothing has been done. No central funds being spent. But, the same Ram Kripal Yadav has awarded our State. Photographs are here available with me evincing the fact.”

“I would like to inform the media that within the last three years 11,70, 185 pucca houses have been completed in the rural pockets in the State till date,” Maharathy averred.

Taking a pot shot at the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on its claims of having made around 10 lakh rural houses across Odisha, Union Rural Development Minister Ram Kripal Yadav during previous visits to the State had asserted that Odisha Government’s claim is not only misleading the people of the State here, but also the nation.

On the contrary, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remarked, “Everything shouldn’t gauged from the political point of view. Maharathy shouldn’t shirk his responsibilities. If a government does one or two good jobs, there is no harm in praising or awarding it. If I appreciate the way the State Government here is bracing up for GST implementation, it doesn’t mean that I have forgiven Odisha’s other crimes.”
