Uniform Syllabus In Odisha Universities From This Academic Session

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government is going to introduce a uniform syllabus (common syllabus) for the undergraduate courses in all universities run by it from the current academic (2019-2020) session. Also go ahead has been given to fill up all the existing vacancies of teaching staff.

This was informed by Odisha Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo on the sidelines of his crucial meeting with the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) of all the State-run universities here on Thursday.

"As of now, different syllabus is followed by different universities. But we have decided to introduce a uniform syllabus and hold examinations within a time-frame, which will help students in future while pursuing further higher studies," said the Minister.

He added, “Step has been taken to fill up the vacancies of teaching staff in the universities. State Government has given the go ahead nod. Hence, the Vice-Chancellors will initiate quick action to fill up those vacancies.”

He also informed, “We discussed today in detail how more and more improvement could be in imparting quality education. Common Syllabus is to be introduced in all the universities in Odisha from this academic session.”

He added, “We have received the report on the damages caused by FANI in the universities. We also discussed today on the restoration.”

“Those who have been unsuccessful in the civil services exams, the State Government has made arrangement for imparting those 100 aspirants with IAS coaching.  86 aspirants have applied till now. They will be provided the requisite coaching,” stated the Higher Education Minister.
