Under-Construction Link Building Collapses At Bhubaneswar Airport, 1 Killed

Bhubaneswar: A person was killed and several were left injured when an under-construction link building of the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) collapsed late last night.

The link building connected Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport. It collapsed on labourers working underneath.

Airport and CISF officials present rushed to rescue people under the debris. Fire service personnel, NDRF and ODRAF teams also arrived upon intimation.

The deceased has been identified as Antaryami Guru. Another labourer Nabaghana Swain is said to be in a critical condition. Several others suffered from minor injuries. The rescued were taken to the Capital Hospital here and given adequate treatment.

The Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Jena, Public Enterprise Minister Ashok Panda and Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena also arrived at the spot late night to take stock of the situation. SRC has promised to look into the matter and bring the responsible to justice.
