Two Women Maoists Surrender Before Odisha DGP In Koraput

Koraput: Two hardcore women Maoists surrendered before DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma in Koraput district today when the latter had gone to attend a meeting on anti-Maoist operations and poll preparedness.

The surrendered Maoists have been identified as Madhi Sukanti (36) of Nalagundi village and Kaushalya Khilla (20) of Dhakadpadar village in Malkangiri district. The duo surrendered before the DGP in presence of Malkangiri SP Jagmohan Meena.

While Madhi was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head, Odisha Government had announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh on head of Kaushalya.

As per police reports, Madhi had joined the banned CPI (Maoist) in Kalimela Dalam in 2003 and from 2011 till now was working in Pedabailu local organisational squad (LOS) under Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border (MKVB) Division.

She was wanted for her alleged involvement in murder of three civilians and 13 security personnel and for her role in eight exchange of fire incidents and other offences.

Similarly, Kaushalya had joined the banned CPI (Maoist) in Gumma Area Committee in 2016 and was working under Malkangiri-Koraput-Visakhapatnam Border (MKVB) Division till now. She was the commander of Gana Natya Sangha (GNS) of Gumma Area Committee.

She was wanted for her alleged involvement in murder of one civilian, four exchange of fire incidents and other offences.

Both of them decided to quit the Maoist organisation after seeing the developmental activities of State Government and realized the futility of the violent approach of Maoists. The duo will be rehabilitated and provided monetary assistance as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation Scheme of Government of Odisha.
