Two Trucks Carrying Relief Materials Despatched To Flood-Hit Bolangir, Kalahandi, More To Be Sent

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the flood situation in western Odisha’s Bolangir and Kalahandi districts, Disaster Preparedness Training Centre (DPTC) under the Indian Red Cross, Odisha State Branch today dispatched two trucks full of relief materials to the two districts.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS earlier in the day, Odisha State Branch Indian Red Cross Society Honorary Joint Secretary Durga Sankar Sarangi informed, “As per the information we have received till now, our two vehicles carrying relief materials will be despatched now to Bolangir and Kalahandi. Our preparation is on for approximately 5000 packets. Initially two trucks will be despatched today. We are also deploying a team of 15 boys from here.”

He further informed, “We are sending both food and non-food items. In food items we are supplying ‘chuda’ (flattened rice), ‘guda’ (jaggery), bread, biscuit, etc. In non-food items, we are supplying candle, tarpaulin, mosquito, saree and dhoti for the women and men. So far first aid is concerned, our team consists of trained boys. They have got expertise in this field.”

“Today we’ll examine the requirement and take further course of action. We had a training camp here yesterday. When we received the information, we sent for our 300 volunteers in the night and soon started packeting food materials. If required, we have materials, we can make further packets. We have also manpower. We can ready the materials and send again. We have also sent today a vehicle carrying relief materials to Naharakanta after receiving information,” he stated.
