Two Snatchers Held In Odisha's Capital

Bhubaneswar: Two youths accused of snatching mobile phones and purses at different places in Bhubaneswar were apprehended by the Commissionerate Police and forwarded to judicial custody on Sunday.

Reportedly, the accused identified as Biswaranjan Maharana (17) and Kanha Lenka (19) had on April 5 snatched purse of a lady near Paramount Club when she was travelling with her daughter towards Kalpana from Badagada.

During the incident the lady had fell down on the road and sustained injury. In the meantime passersby chased the duo, apprehended them and handed over to PCR. A complaint in this regard had been filed by the lady's daughter, Bidyutprava Panda, Badagada Police Station.

Later on April 6, one Pramod Kumar Sahoo had also lodged a complaint at the Badagada Police Station alleging that while he was returning to his home on April 4 evening from Bapujinagar, two boys came in a red colour Pulsar motor cycle without number and robbed him of his mobile phone on gun point near Arts block back side of BJB college.

Pramod also stated that he was able to hear their names as Kanha and Biswaranjan and also sustained injuries on his hands, head and knees.

During interrogation, Biswaranjan and Kanha confessed of snatching the goods and selling them at very low price for their personal benefit. One revolver, six mobile phones, one purse with Rs 6000 in it and one red colour Pulsar motorcycle have been recovered from their possession.

Kanha was found to be involved in two more cases registered at Laxmisagar Police Station.
