Khurda: Two hardcore criminals were injured in a police encounter near Dalak village under Begunia police limits of Khurda district on Saturday.

The two, identified as Umesh Sahu and Pintu Majhi, were involved in over 10 cases including bombing, bank robbery, ATM vehicle robbery and torching JCB vehicle.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Begunia  Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) conducted a raid at their hideout when they started firing at the police. However, the accused sustained bullet injuries when the cops fired in retaliation.

Inspector-In-Charge of Begunia police station and the Second Officer have also sustained minor injuries during the exchange of fire.
