Tusker Tramples Elderly To Death In Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: An elephant trampled an elderly man resulting in his death on Tuesday at Khatuahata Forest Section of Kamakhyanagar Western Forest Range of Dhenkanal district.

The deceased has been identified as Hrudananda Mallik of Godarbili village under Tumusinga police limits. As per sources, Mallik was out to attend nature’s call at 5 am today when he was attacked by the tusker near Shalua Chaka. By the time locals approached him, he was no more.

Mallik was skilled labour and used to work at Tarini Dhaba near Shalua Chaka.

Upon receiving information, Kamakhyanagar (Western Range) Ranger Bibhudananda Mishra arrived on the spot and gave ex-gratia of Rs 40,000 to the deceased’s family. He said that requisite compensation will be provided after the necessary work is completed.
