Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old D Pharma student was found hanging in her hostel at Chandrasekharpur area here.

The victim Rupali Rupanjita Dash(19) studied in 1st year of D Pharma at Government Women’s Polytechnic College and stayed in the campus hostel. Rupali hails from Kumbhira Gadia village in Jajpur’s Kalinga Nagar.

Her parents said that she had been to home on December 22, and had left for her college in a happy space. She had even chatted with parents yesterday and they stressed that they did not note her to be in any kind of mental pressure.

However, they added that bad results might have triggered her to take this extreme step even though there was no such pressure from Rupali’s family. She had fared badly in a practical exam previously and had a theory exam yesterday. She is said to have left her class mid-way and went to her hostel room. Her friends discovered her body and informed college and hostel authorities. They, in turn, informed Rupali’s family.

Her body was sent to Capital hospital for autopsy. a probe has also been initiated in this matter.

Meanwhile the college authorities refused to comment on the issue.
