Bhubaneswar: A 16-year-old girl was rescued from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan. The rescued girl was nine-month-old pregnant, was kidnapped from Rourkela in December 2017. A team of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) rescued the pregnant girl on February 5.
According to the victim, she was kidnapped, sold, forced into marriage and raped by a 40-year-old man for over a year. She breathed a sigh of relief when after a year she saw her father. The girl revealed, one day when her father had gone for work, two relatives forcefully kidnapped her. She was married off to the 40-year-old man. For the arrangements the relatives got the sum of Rs 4 lakh.
Her father said that despite getting an FIR registered in Rourkela about his daughter’s kidnapping in December 2017, his daughter remained missing. “After about 10 days, he came to know that his daughter had been forcefully married off to a 40-year-old man,” said the commission.
After two weeks, the father was shocked to see 14-year-old child dressed up like a married woman with red clothes, bangles and vermilion when the Rajasthan Police brought her to Rourkela. She was forcefully taken back to Rajasthan, the Commission added.
Her father approached DCW on January 24 this year after which his complaint was forwarded to Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the DCW. A team was set up by DCW which went to Jhunjhunu and managed to rescue the minor. The Delhi Commission for Women is in the process of handing over the child to her father.
