Thundersquall, Heatwave To Continue In Several Parts Of Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with hail and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph is likely to prevail in Northern, Western and South-Western districts of Odisha for the next four days, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

As per the IMD bulletin, thundersquall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack and Jajpur during the next 24 hours under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over east Bihar & neighbourhood extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.

However, heat wave conditions are likely to prevail in interior Odisha for the next few days. Nine stations across Odisha recorded a temperature above 40 degree Celsius today with the highest 43.6 degree Celsius recorded at Jharsuguda followed by 43.5 degree Celsius at Titlagarh, 43.3 at Sonepur, 42.7 at Sambalpur, 42.4 at Hirakud, 42.0 at Bolangir, 41.5 at Talcher, 41.4 at Malkangiri and 41.0 at Sundargarh.
