The Deadly Selfie: River Sweeps Away Andhra Youth In Rayagada, Body Recovered

Rayagada: In an unfortunate incident, a 35-year-old man was swept away while clicking selfie in the Nagabali river under Seskal police limits. The deceased person has been identified as T. Gangaraju of Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports, a group of 13 friends arrived at Rayagada today morning and went to offer prayers at the Majhighariani Temple. Soon after that, the group proceeded to the Jhola Bridge over Nagabali River to enjoy the scenery.

Gangaraju descended into the river in order to capture a selfie with the river in background, when his leg slipped and he was swept away in the high current water.

Locals of the Antamoda village nearby recsued Gangaraju’s body but the river had got the best of him already. On intimation, Fire personnel reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

The incident is a simple reminder for everyone that one's own life is always more valuable than social media validation from some 'Likes' and 'Comments'.
